How do the tax classes work?

Tax rates:

Standard rates: The standard VAT rate of your respective country. If your product does not qualify for the reduced or zero-rate, you will have to select the standard rate.

Reduced rates: Certain products are given preferential tax treatment by some states. If this is the case for your product, you can select the “reduced” rate when creating the product. Please note that for some countries there are two different reduced rates for products.

Zero rate: If your product does not apply for standard or reduced rates, it might be subject to tax exemption. We advice you to exercise caution when using zero rates and, if in doubt, consult a tax advisor.

You are responsible for the correct selection of tax classes for your products. We cannot accept any responsibility for this and advise you to consult a local tax advisor if in doubt. All tax rates shown here are taken from the information page of the European Union and are updated semi-annually in January and July.
